This weeks hotel spotlight is on the quirky and artistic 'The Theif' in Oslo, Norway. 5 star unpretentious luxury with one of the best spa's i'VE EVER BEEN TO!

I had the pleasure of staying at this hotel with John Newman and Team Kygo recently for a TV promo campaign. As expected on arrival it was freezing!!! Oslo is truly stunning with snow covered hills and scenery that looks like it's been plucked from a magazine and everyone still manages to look chic and stylish, just like The Thief.
From the outside the building is unassuming. It's the hotel signage that gives you a clue at the quirkiness you'll find here.
On arrival we were met by a suave englishman with the swagger to match. The lobby and chill zones are extravagant, demure and homely at the same time. Its just the warm welcome we needed from the bitter cold.

There are numerous pieces of art and sculptures in every area of the hotel. Some pieces are traditional and others are technological like the cool moving digital paintings in the lift that initially freaked me out! I got the feeling I was being watched...I was...by the moving painting. The decor in the welcome lounge is my favourite colour scheme black and gold. Every surface of the hotel is textured and layered with different fabrics and pieces I felt like a magpie! I also felt like I was in the house of a black mirror style art collector, cosy, sophisticated with A LOT of secrets.
The bedrooms at The Thief are really well planned out as is the service. You usually get a little chocolate on the pillow after an evening turndown but staff at The Thief made me feel like a child again! They left me some cookies with a branded flask of hot water and a calming tea for bed! They totally read my mind! I won't spoil the fun of the room too much for you but there's lots to find if you look hard enough. This is a totally immersive hotel.
The in-room entertainment system is incredible too. I was able to login to my Netflix account and binge watch 'How To Get Away With Murder" (a season ahead in Norway whoop!) into the small hours of the morning timing out the data connection lol! Someone came up immediately and swapped out the media box and I got straight back in! Honestly I found it really hard to leave the bed it was so cosy like a hug and I actually splayed on it like a starfish when usually I waste a good bed sleeping on the edge on one side neatly lol!

Needless to say I wore myself out and decided to have a mini spa day before we jetted off again. Honestly I didn't really know what to expect as I made my way towards the lift that goes straight down to the spa. No more embarrassing robe catwalks back to the room through reception ha! In my opinion a spa isn't just a spa. There are so many different elements that make it a hit or miss. The spa at The Thief is a huge HIT! They have got the balance of masculine and feminine decor just right with clean lines and elegant lighting. I'm not a big swimmer but I couldn't resist the pool. The temperature was warm and when you swim to the infinity edges you get to see a slither of the world outside passing by.
My favourite part of the spa is the steam room. As a singer it's usually my first port of call when I go to a spa the sauna is too dry for me. The steam room at The Thief is one of the best I've been to. It features a massive crystal at it's centre and I'm a huge fan of crystals and their energies. I think it was amethyst I must check next time I'm there. The decor is stunning too, all black slate with slithers of gold lighting around the edges.
There's something a bit futuristic about the spa here but it's not so out there that you can't relax. I really had fun with the themed showers too with settings like 'Rain Forest' complete with nature sounds. After my steam session I was greeted with complementary sliced fruit, tea and water. On this particular trip I didn't try out the gym or the roof top bar so I will use them next time and let you know what I think but the gym looked very well equipped.
So if you find this hotel on your itinerary next time you visit Norway you're in for a really good nights sleep in their plush beds, stunning food (the steak is a winner and american pancakes at breakfast) random but tasteful art (it's never the same) and a stunning spa.
Where's your favourite spa hotel?
